T161 - Multi Skilled Operative

Salary: £30,851 - £32, 437 per annum (Grade 8) plus, tool allowance of £1.74 per working day (approximately £450 per year) and opportunity to earn more by participating in an out of hours, on call rota Full-Time

Due to a recent restructure of the housing repairs service we are recruiting to a number of vacant posts and increasing the size of the team. We are looking for people to join our team to undertake repairs to the Council’s housing stock. We wish to recruit operatives with skills in joinery, building and plumbing.

The majority of your work will be undertaken in tenanted properties, but you may also be required to work in empty properties to undertake work to get these ready for new tenants.

In addition to having qualifications and experience in your trade, you will be expected to utilise your skills in another trade to help the Council achieve their aim of completing repairs at first visit.

You will have the use of a company van.

 We’re looking for an individual who has experience of:

  • Working in a social housing repairs team
  • Completing repairs jobs in tenanted properties
  • Working with other employees and teams
  • Keeping accurate records of work completed

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent technical skills, to complete a variety of jobs
  • Hold a qualification to evidence their ability
  • Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Be enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Have a flexible approach to meet the needs of a demanding service
  • Be someone who represents our GREAT values and behaviours
