The Hindu Chariot Festival is a grand religious celebration where a deity's idol is placed in a beautifully decorated chariot (ratha) and pulled through the streets by devotees.

Description

The chariot festival of Sri Thurkkai Amman Temple is an annual event in which the deity will be taken in chariot in public around the temple. Devotees accompany this event chanting Hindu religious songs, playing traditional musical instruments and worshipping the deity with flowers. This event is significant for people of Hindu Religious faith. Nearly 300-400 devotees will participate in this event. The chariot will be taken on the road. The chariot will make a clockwise circle along this path: West crescent - Roy Avenue - Meadow Road - Lavender Grove - Beech Avenue - West Crescent
