Volunteers Recognised at Broxtowe Voluntary Awards Evening
James Kerry, an 8-year-old fundraising hero won the Young Volunteer Award, despite battling metastatic medulloblastoma, he’s raised over £20,000 for NUH Children’s Hospital and Children’s Brain Tumour Research. His efforts are truly inspiring!

Benefitting Broxtowe Award – Eastwood and District Royal British Legion
The Eastwood and District Royal British Legion has raised over £41,000 for the national RBL, making a huge difference in the lives of ex-servicemen and women. Their dedication and fundraising efforts are truly commendable!
Community Hero Award – Cayden Chapman
Cayden is an extraordinary young man whose dedication to the Broxtowe Community Projects’ Neighbourhood Get-Together sessions is truly inspiring. Cayden also plays a crucial role in meal preparation, helping to cook and serve food that brings people together.
Culture and Heritage Award – Gill Coker
Gill is a community dynamo! From her start with the Grantham Canal Restoration Society to her recent work at the Canalside Heritage Centre, Gill’s dedication to the community is unwavering.
The Green Futures Award – Rose Harvey
Rose is a whirlwind of community spirit! She’s been a key player in numerous projects, from the Repair Cafe to community meals at Hope Nottingham. Rose’s hard work and positive energy make her a true community champion!
Sporting Volunteer Award – James (Jim) Dymond
At 84, Jim is a cricket legend at Kimberley Institute Cricket Club. For 27 years, he’s been developing the community’s cricket skills. Jim’s warm and caring nature encourages all youngsters to reach their potential.
Youth Work Volunteer Award – Martin Oakland
Martin has been a Scout leader for 25 years, nurturing a love for the outdoors in countless young people. He’s the go-to person for outdoor adventures and mentoring future leaders. Martin’s commitment is truly inspiring!

Lifetime Achievement Award – David Henson
David has dedicated an incredible 54 years to Scouting! He founded the 2nd Toton Scout Group and has been the County’s Duke of Edinburgh Award advisor since 1985. David’s hands-on approach and unwavering commitment have shaped generations of Scouts.
