Conquer those winter blues at Beeston Light Night III this January
Themed around ‘Poetry and Fire’, there will be bespoke poetry on the spot and performances from remarkable fire breathers. Coinciding with Burns Night, there will be references to Scotland throughout the evening, including a bagpiper playing with Nottingham Samba Collective.
Broxtowe Borough Council has provided a grant of £14,290 through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) from the UK Government to support this event, with match funding from Beeston Civic Society (BCS) and in-kind support from participating businesses.
This is a great opportunity to beat those post-Christmas winter blues; engage with local businesses, and champion local artistic talent!
The event will feature an array of entertainment including, illuminated dance stilt drummers in the Town Centre, a silent disco at Oasis Christian Centre, and a laser show in the Square projected down the High Road. But the fun isn’t limited to Beeston Town Centre, amusement stretches as far as Chilwell Tram Stop where fire-like silk fan dancers will be performing, and Canalside in the Rylands where paddle-boarders will be putting on a light display, plus a torch-light parade at the Boat and Horses pub. Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, Council Leader and Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Assets said, “January is always a quiet time for commerce and this year’s event will bring extra footfall to the town. 2023’s Light Night was a huge success, despite the weather and I hope we see even greater numbers. This is an excellent example of how the Council is working in partnership to support our local small businesses”
Jeanie Barton, local musician and Chair of Beeston Civic Society said, “We hope businesses and residents will embrace this light night as they did the previous two by creatively lighting up their premises for the evening. With attractions booked from Broadgate to Bartons as well as in the Rylands, this event will brighten up the whole town between 6-9pm on 25-01-25. I’m very grateful to the many local volunteers who make this event as big and vibrant as possible.”
