Broxtowe Marks Holocaust Memorial Day
The Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor Sue Paterson will join the Leader of the Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, Youth Mayor Libby Bales and pupils from Alderman White School in delivering readings and choir performances to reflect the theme of this year’s event, ‘For a Better Future’. Members of the public are warmly encouraged to attend.
Mayor Councillor Sue Paterson said: “The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day this year is "For a Better Future." It challenges us not only to reflect on the past but also to look forward, to consider the actions we must take to build a world where hatred, prejudice, and persecution have no place.
The ceremony will take place at the Holocaust Memorial to honour the millions who suffered during the Holocaust under Nazi persecution and in genocides that have taken place since. This Holocaust Memorial Day marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp complex, and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.
