Broxtowe Business Forums return to help support local businesses, with UK Shared Prosperity funding

24/01/2025 - Broxtowe Business Forums are returning in 2025 with events in Beeston, Eastwood, Kimberley and Stapleford in January and February.

The aims of the Forums are to help local businesses network with each other, promote all the free support available to help businesses thrive and for the Council to strengthen and increase its engagement and better understand businesses’ needs. The events were made possible through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) from the UK Government.

Broxtowe Business Forums will take place on:

  • Monday 27 January 5:30pm – 8pm, Stapleford, Horse & Jockey
  • Tuesday 28 January 5:30pm – 8pm, Beeston, The Beeston Social
  • Monday 3 February 5:30pm – 8pm, Eastwood, Dog & Parrot
  • Tuesday 4 February, 5:30pm – 8pm, Kimberley, The Dog House

Join us for a chat about your business ideas and issues and hear about the support offered by our business advisers from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. From 6:30pm – 7pm, hear about project updates and the initiatives we are putting in place to support your business and how you can get involved, including a new parking scheme, social media campaigns, town centre visitor email newsletters, improved visitor navigation and other projects. From 7pm – 8pm, join our Marketing and Communications Team to share your ideas and perspectives on how we can work in partnership to promote the visitor offer, aiming to come away with a joint plan for the year ahead.

At the previous Forums, businesses met with the Economic Development Team in each of the Town Centres and discussed prominent issues affecting business in their respective areas. Businesses also benefitted from networking with each other with a desire for similar meetings to continue.

The Forums were developed following the Broxtowe Skills Quest survey in the early part of 2024. Most respondents wanted help in regularly networking with other local businesses, to find out what help the Council could offer and meet people within the council.

The Forums enable the Council’s Economic Development Team to talk directly to businesses to gain insights and feed into the Council’s strategic decisions. Businesses have the opportunity to meet, provide peer support and share ideas. The Council’s team will be on hand to provide information about where businesses can get support, funding opportunities and how businesses can get on the Council’s procurement list. The ambition is that, after an initial set up period, the town-based meetings become self-administering.

Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council and Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Asset Management, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, said: ‘We asked our Broxtowe businesses how the Council could help their businesses to thrive, and the Broxtowe Business Forums are one of the outcomes.

We are committed to helping our local businesses to grow and the Forums will inform how we can use local funding to ensure that we can provide relevant support services.’
