Broxtowe Borough Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund grant helps Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises based in Broxtowe to access specialist training and business support

Broxtowe Borough Council’s grant of over £20,000 has helped Nottingham Community and Voluntary Services (NCVS) to employ a dedicated officer to support Broxtowe-based groups to develop and grow.

The funding will help NCVS to support more than 20 organisations on a one-to-one or small group basis. As well as allowing access to over 30 training courses for 50 organisations. All the support has been developed specifically for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises (VCSE’s) based in the Broxtowe Borough Council Area.

NCVS have developed a dedicated landing page on their website to allow Broxtowe-based VCSE organisations free access to its suite of dedicated training and development programmes.

Support from NCVS includes:

  • A package of capacity and capability-building sessions either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups based on your organisational needs. An initial business diagnosis to identify your needs. These may include help with reviewing legal structures, identifying suitable funding opportunities, improving operational service delivery and much more. This support can be provided face-to-face or virtually.
  • Access (at no cost to you) to a variety of training courses that NCVS delivers online to help you run your organisation and manage volunteers. There is usually a small charge for these training courses, but fully funded places are available to Broxtowe groups.
  • Community and voluntary groups can promote volunteer opportunities through NCVS’s searchable database. Read more on the  Looking for Volunteers (Opens in a new window) page, where you can find a range of volunteering opportunities, training and support for Leaders of Volunteers.

Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council and Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Asset Management Cllr Milan Radulovic said, ‘Broxtowe has a strong and diverse range of Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises and I’m delighted that Nottingham Community and Voluntary Services is offering this dedicated support to help them to thrive.  Our local groups are often run by volunteers and the opportunity to upskill them will help our Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations deliver a more sustainable service for residents in Broxtowe.

Jules Sebelin, Chief Executive Officer at Nottingham CVS said, “ Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service (NCVS)  has been supporting the sector, for many years, to strengthen and develop their work. We are pleased to provide a variety of free support to Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations based and delivering services in the geographical area of Broxtowe Borough.
