Work begins on new Stapleford car park
The new car park will replace the current Victoria Street car park - the site planned for the town’s new enterprise hub, The Pencil Works.
Forty-four spaces will be transferred to 131 Derby Road, with the addition of four disabled car parking bays and four EV charging spots.
Work is expected to take around three months with plans for the current car park to relocate by February 2025, ahead of construction work starting on The Pencil Works in March 2025 (subject to planning approval).
The Pencil Works’ aim is to offer high-quality facilities that attract new workers and visitors to the centre of the town, encouraging spending in Stapleford and helping businesses thrive.
Victoria Street was identified as the most suitable location to meet the needs for this significant landmark development.
Funded by the Government through the Stapleford Towns Fund, The Pencil Works will provide 1,000 square metres of flexible space for:
- Creative makers’ space for specialist craftspeople and artists
- Retail units, including food/drinks outlets
- Flexible office space for small businesses
It will also feature public toilets (relocated from Cliffe Hill), disabled parking and bicycle storage.
