Plans for new Pencil Works building on show at Stapleford community drop-in event
The building, planned for the car park on Victoria Street, has been designed to offer high-quality facilities to support the town’s aims of becoming a great place to visit, work and do business.
The Pencil Works, funded through the £21.1m Stapleford Towns Fund, is projected to create 50 jobs and 1,000 square metres of flexible space, including:
- Creative makers’ space for specialist craftspeople and artists
- Retail units, including food/drinks outlets
- Flexible office space for small businesses
- Public toilets (relocated from Cliffe Hill)
- Disabled parking and bicycle storage
A planning application (reference number 24/00669/REG3) has been submitted and a public consultation period for people to share their views is now open until the end of November.
The plans can be viewed at this link on the Broxtowe Borough Council planning portal https://publicaccess.broxtowe.gov.uk/online-applications/ (Opens in a new window)
Subject to planning approval, work will start in February 2025 with completion in 12 months.
