Broxtowe Borough Council Installs Its 48th Mayor
Sue, a Labour Party Councillor for Stapleford, was first elected to Stapleford Town Council in May 2019, and has served on Broxtowe Borough Council since the 2021 by-election.
Sue is passionate about supporting the local area and its people and she is a supporting of a number of local voluntary organisations. These include, The Helpful Bureau, who she will be raising funds for in her year in office, as well as being a founding member of Yarn Bomb Stapleford and supporting Stapleford Mutual Aid Group.
Her year in office will also be used to raise the profile of Broxtowe Community Fund and Dystonia, a neurological movement disorder that is estimated to affect at least 100,000 people in the UK, including Sue herself.
“I’m really excited to take on the role of Mayor,” said Sue. “In my role as a Councillor and during my time as Deputy Mayor, I’ve met so many wonderful people who work so hard to help others in our community and I can’t wait to find out more and to recognise some of these people during the year.”
Councillor Sue Paterson takes over from past Mayor (2023-24), Councillor Teresa Cullen, following her successful year in office which saw her undertake 219 engagements and raised over £22,000 for Broxtowe Community Fund.
Councillor Robert Bullock, a Labour Councillor for Eastwood Hall, will assist Councillor Sue Paterson as the Deputy Mayor of the Borough.
