We are looking for someone who will be fundamental in meeting the Legal Team’s vision which is to support the Council in acting lawfully and with high standards of governance to achieve its corporate objectives for the local community. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and is a team player who can contribute to the wider delivery of the Council’s corporate plan. In this role you will be expected to provide specialist legal advice, representation and assistance across a range of Housing, Litigation and regulatory law to provide a quality and comprehensive legal service to officers, elected Members and other partners. We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience within Regulatory law (Environmental Health prosecutions, planning enforcement prosecution and across other regulatory functions within a local authority setting).
- Advocacy experience in both Magistrates Court and County Court.
- Housing and Tenancy law experience including, possession and housing disrepair.
- Local government experience is desirable, but we welcome applications from people from all parts of the legal sector.
- The successful candidate will need to be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate.

What you need to know:
- Working hours are 37 per week, with normal office hours being Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (4.30 p.m. on Fridays).
- Hybrid working will be available, however there will be an expectation to be able to attend the office when required. During the initial six-month probation period, there will be an expectation to attend the office more often for training and development purposes
