H1 - Housing Delivery Manager

Salary: £51,085 - £52,804 (Grade 15), 37 hours per week

We are looking for a highly motivated professional to join our Housing Asset and Development Team, to help us promote and facilitate the provision of new housing within the borough, through working with a range of partners such as MLCHG, Homes England, registered providers, private developers, parish councils, and with local landowners and communities, working proactively with development and community interests to remove barriers and facilitate the increased delivery of new homes.

In addition, to under pin our long term commitment to delivering a consistent stream of new homes, we’re looking to prepare and maintain a Housing Development Strategy for the business, as well as maintaining an up-to-date understanding and awareness of different available opportunities designed to support housing growth and the delivery of the Council’s Housing Strategy.

The right person will take a key role in enabling and optimising the delivery of affordable housing and acting as the key link between stakeholders to meet the Council’s affordable housing objectives. They will also identify and facilitate potential development opportunities and delivery mechanisms including using innovative solutions such as land assembly and identifying stalled sites where national funding could unlock development.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Degree in Town Planning or Development Surveying or 5 years relevant experience essential.
  • Current sound knowledge and understanding of the broad housing agenda and local, regional and national housing, planning and regeneration policies essential.
  • Experience of the housing development environment essential.
  • A track record of leading and delivering projects in partnership to achieve outcomes within the housing sector essential.
  • An understanding of the local authority strategic housing function essential.

What you need to know:

  • The role will be hybrid, however as you’ll be responsible for managing a team, there is an expectation that at least 3 days will be spent in the office / on site.
  • There will be a requirement to occasionally work outside of normal working hours, to attend Cabinet and Scrutiny sessions.
