C4 - Civic and Cultural Services Officer

Salary: £30,851 - £32,437 (Grade 8), 37 hours per week

Are you confident, organised and committed? Do you have excellent event management and communications skills? From managing the Mayor’s diary to organising high profile public events including Remembrance parades and other outdoor events, no day is the same in this unique and interesting job.

You will be at the forefront of an all-year round programme of civic engagement including facilitating a wide range of civic, charity and corporate events for Broxtowe Borough Council and providing support to the Mayor in carrying out an extensive number of engagements each year.

The successful candidate must be a strong communicator, committed to providing a high standard of customer care and will take prime responsibility for the co-ordination of a busy mayoral diary, including direct liaison with a wide range of residents and community groups, as well as regular contact with a variety of dignitaries and high level public servants.

Working in the Communications, Cultural and Civic Services Team, team work is essential as well as being able to work creatively to your own initiative to meet deadlines. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are also vital.

The hours of work are 37 hours per week but this is not a 9 to 5 post and you must be flexible and prepared to work outside of normal office hours, including some weekends and evenings.

 We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:

  • Event and project management
  • Event design, planning, delivery and evaluation
  • Managing budgets
  • Building relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Preparing publicity material and briefings

 The ideal candidate would be:

  • Highly motivated, organised and able to work under pressure to meet multiple, conflicting deadlines
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be a team player
  • Be prepared to work outside of normal office hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays to support events and culture activity when required
