Decoration Allowances
Information of allowances for decoration following building maintenance works.
When building maintenance works have been carried out in your home, there may be some damage to decorations. If this happens, you may be entitled to a small payment to restore the area affected by the works.
The level of payment is agreed following a detailed post inspection of the work.

Important Notes
- Where this work forms part of a modernisation scheme, the allowance will be reduced by 50% to reflect the redecoration carried out by the Council as part of the works.
- It is important to note that in homes with adult tenants who are above retirement age or who are disabled, the allowances can be increased by up to 80% if we are provided a valid invoice from a professional decorator.
- Payments are likely to be at the lower end of the scale where a property is painted or is in a poor decorative condition.
- Payments are likely to be at the higher end of the scale where the general condition of decor is good and there is a need to ensure that the repaired area is decorated to the same good standard.
- Payments may not be made if you are already decorating the property when the defects are identified or the improvements are carried out.
