Aids and Adaptations
This service is provided for Council tenants or members of their family, who are disabled, and require adaptations to help them live independently and to facilitate easy access into and around their homes. There is no cost for any of the work carried out.
In order to apply for aids or adaptations, tenants can make a self-referral to Nottingham County Council on 0300 500 80 80 or email capitalworks@broxtowe.gov.uk or call 0115 917 3610.
We are required to consult with the Occupational Therapists at Nottingham County Council, who in turn will make recommendations to the Housing Department on the necessity of work required to ensure this meets all the disabled person's needs. They will also assess the degree of priority the required work should be given. Once confirmed, the Housing Department will be in touch to organise when the work will take place. Your rent will not increase and you will not be forced to move out of your property. If an adaptation request is not a practical solution you may be offered an alternate property that is more suited to your needs.
While we always seek to provide aids and adaptations as quickly as possible, it can take up to three months before you receive a visit from the Occupational Therapist to assess your case. Once we receive the report, we can provide a more accurate time scale of when the works can be completed.

Priority

Major Adaptations

Please not that some major adaptations such as extensions may be subject to delay due to the possible high cost and/or the need to seek planning permission and obtain competitive quotations from builders.
-
'B' Priority - These requests are considered in turn according to the date of referral and are carried out subject to the available budget.
Minor Adaptations
-
These can be self-referrals from the tenant/disabled person and are assessed by our own Aids and Adaptations Officer.
