Food Hygiene Inspections and Ratings

Information about Food Inspections, Investigations and the Hygiene Ratings Scheme

The borough of Broxtowe offers a number of exciting places to eat.  Our aim is to ensure that food and drink sold in Broxtowe is clean and safe to consume.

We work to enforce the Food Safety Act 1990 which involves the inspection and enforcement of hygiene standards in all registered food premises. Routine visits are made to all premises.

High risk premises like restaurants, takeaways, cafes, public houses serving food, nursing and residential care homes, schools, bakeries, butchers, supermarkets and mobile caterers are visited either every 6 months, annually, or every 18 months.

Low risk and other premises like newsagents, small grocery stores, pharmacies, small post offices and garages are visited once every 2 or 3 years.

Following any inspections, the Council will provide the premises with a Food Hygiene Rating.
