Upcoming Elections
An announcement was made on Wednesday 22 May that the UK Parliamentary Election will take place on Thursday 4 July.

Parliamentary Constituencies
There have been changes to Parliamentary Constituency boundaries since the last Parliamentary election.
Properties in Kimberley, Nuthall, Watnall and Strelley will now vote in the Nottingham North & Kimberley Constituency rather than the Broxtowe Constituency.
Properties in Eastwood, Brinsley and Newthorpe who previously voted in the Ashfield Constituency will now vote in the Broxtowe Constituency.
The relevant constituency for your address will be printed on your poll card.

Nottingham North and Kimberley Constituency
Registering to vote and applying for postal/proxy voting or a voter authority certificate
If you are not already registered to vote, you can register online at www.gov.uk/registertovote. The deadline for registering to vote is Tuesday 18 June 2024.
Apply online to vote by post or download an application form. The deadline for applying for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024
Apply online to vote by proxy or download an application form. The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024
If you do not have photographic ID, you can apply online for a Voter Authority Certificate here. You will need to complete the application form and upload a passport style photograph. The deadline for applying is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. More information on Voter ID and what ID is acceptable can be found below.
Overseas Electors
British citizens living overseas can register to vote in Parliamentary elections and can complete an application online. You must also make sure you complete an application to vote by post or by proxy.
For overseas electors who are already registered and have postal voting arrangements set up, your postal vote will be sent on 11 June 2024. For new overseas electors, or existing overseas electors who have not yet submitted a postal vote application, your postal vote will be sent in accordance with the table below.

Voter ID
The Government introduced a requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station. The Electoral Commission have produced a booklet with information which can be viewed here (.pdf)(1.25MB)(Opens in a New Window).
Most voters may already have photo ID that will be accepted, such as:
- Passport
- Photocard Driving licence (including provisional licence)
- Blue badge
- Certain concessionary travel cards
- Identity card with PASS mark (Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
- Biometric Immigration document

What if I don't have an acceptable form of photo ID?
If you don’t already have an accepted form of photo ID, or you’re not sure whether your photo ID still looks like you, you can apply for a free voter ID document, known as a Voter Authority Certificate (Opens in a New Window). The deadline for applying for a Voter Authority Certificate for these elections is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2024.

Do I need photo ID to vote by post?
You will not need to provide photo ID to vote by post. This is because there are other identification checks, including verification of your signature and date of birth, both when you apply for a postal vote and when you submit your ballot paper.
