Town Centres
All four main town centres are easily accessible via public transport from Nottingham City Centre and the surrounding residential areas, also benefiting from nearby rail links at Beeston and Toton Lane tram Park & Ride near to Stapleford and M1 motorway access via J26 for Eastwood and Kimberley.
Town Centre Management
In 2017 the Town Centre Management Team merged to form a larger Economic Development Team (Opens in New Window). This consolidation enabled both departments to closer align their work to the Council’s Corporate Strategy and further enabled the team to produce and agree an updated and more collaborative Economic Regeneration Strategy with members, which will inform the Council’s approach to all regeneration and business support activity until 2021.
The team will look to provide similar business support and monitoring, with a wider remit than just local centres. Work around bringing vacant commercial properties back into use, property enquires in town centres and site redevelopment will now be applied to the wider Borough catchment to include our largest 40 employment sites, by strengthening relationships with local and national property agents, land and property owners, new and expanding companies, skills and training providers.
It is the Council’s desire for more localised Town Team initiatives to be predominately ‘business led’ and will still be available to support in an advisory role to these groups and try to facilitate any projects from these local groups to improve the high street environment.
What are Town Teams?
These are non-political bodies which can involve local businesses, organisations, town, borough and county council representatives. These stakeholders give their time free of charge, responding directly to issues from the town centre community.
