The Beeston Masterplan was adopted in 2008 to ensure Beeston’s future vitality. Major projects have included the opening of a new eight screen cinema and food and drink outlets.

Eastwood

Two new industrial units have been constructed at the Council owned Mushroom Farm Court site, on Meadowbank Way as part of a £198,000 investment from the Broxtowe Borough Council and D2N2 LEP via the Local Growth Fund (LGF).

The project has been co-funded by the Council with £115,000 from D2N2 LEP, from the LGF programme. As a result of the project, over £1million of gross value is expected to be added to the local economy over ten years, as well as the new floorspace delivered creating new jobs.

Nottingham 26, a new 55 acre industrial development offering flexible buildings from 50,000 sq ft to 900,000 sq ft has also be constructed to the west of Eastwood town centre.

£200,000 will be invested in CCTV, security measures and environmental improvements in Eastwood South following a successful bid by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council.

We are currently looking for ways to build on the plans already developed to fund investment in Eastwood, following the disappointing news that the £20m bid submitted to Government as part of the Levelling Up Fund has been unsuccessful.

A Town Centre Improvement Project - In place of the existing Parish Hall on Newdigate Street, a new Business and Community Hub will be constructed. This will offer co-working and office space for starts-ups and small businesses, as well as improved space for community activities on the ground floor. Small Business Grants will also be made available to businesses in Kimberley to improve the feel and appearance of the town and the functionality of these businesses.

Digby Street Industrial Units and Swingate Farm sports facilities -The current football pitch at Digby Street will be redeveloped into 20 new industrial units to allow new businesses to move into Kimberley, driving job creation and economic growth. A new sports facility at Swingate Farm will be developed in its place, with a new football and cricket pitch to support the outstanding Kimberley sports teams.

Cycle Path Network and Bennerley Viaduct Eastern Ramp -A new active travel route would link up Kimberley with Eastwood, Giltbrook, Phoenix Park Tram Stop and Bennerley Viaduct. UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) is a central pillar of the UK Government's Levelling Up agenda, providing £2.6 billion of new funding for local investment by March 2025. Broxtowe Borough Council has been allocated £2.56million from the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Broxtowe Borough Council is calling for expressions of interest in the Communities and Place Good Ideas Fund from local organisations whose projects fit the above criteria. We want to encourage local voluntary and charitable organisations to apply for funding to help their local communities. Funding can only be given to organisations who are properly constituted. No individuals will be offered an award.

You can find out more about the fund and how to apply on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund webpage.

Business Hubs

Two business hubs have been created in Beeston and Stapleford to help entrepreneurs to take on their first commercial premises. The hubs also come with

dedicated business support advice.

Neighbourhood Planning

Neighbourhood planning provides a powerful set of tools for local people to ensure that they get the right types of development for their community where the ambition of the neighbourhood is aligned with the strategic needs and priorities of the wider local area.

In Broxtowe, we have a number of neighbourhood plans, all at different stages.

The economy of Broxtowe could receive a major boost thanks to three major developments planned by the East Midlands Development Corporation - including the transformation of Chilwell and Toton.

The planned closure of Chetwynd Barracks, scheduled for 2025, will create opportunities to reconnect parts of the area like never before, with an opportunity to protect existing heritage, create new cycle and walk ways as well as new green spaces.

Towns and communities across our borough, from Eastwood to Stapleford and Toton, would be able to access tens of thousands of jobs and apprenticeships, new homes, and significantly improved transport links.

House Building

Our Housing Building Delivery Plan will see a minimum of 230 homes built in the Borough on land which the Council owns, as well as brownfield, under-utilised or derelict land over the next ten years.

It will include buying back existing properties that were once Council homes, re-modelling existing and under-used accommodation, working in partnership with local registered providers to build homes, delivering the Council’s own new build developments and meeting the needs of an ageing population and those with conditions such as dementia.
