Broxtowe Voluntary Awards
The evening itself will include the awards presentation, music and three course meal and offer all ticket holders the chance to celebrate your friends, neighbours and family members. You can nominate anyone you feel fits into one of the eight categories below from 17 January 2025. Nominations will close on Friday 14 February 2025 and the nominations will then be shortlisted and judged by a panel of judges, including members of the voluntary sector.

The event will take place on 22 March 2025 at Beeston Youth and Community Centre. All shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation to join us at the Broxtowe Voluntary Awards. Proceeds from the event will go to the Mayor’s chosen charity, The Helpful Bureau(Opens in a New Window) which helps people remain living safely and independently in their homes in Broxtowe.
Awards categories
Lifetime Achievement Volunteer Award
To qualify for the Lifetime Achievement Award, nominees need to have a minimum of twenty years’ voluntary experience. These do not need to be consecutive years, but the nominee does need to have either finished their voluntary work within the last twelve months or still be volunteering at the time of nomination. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
Youth Work Award
The nominator needs to provide sufficient information to explain what work the nominee has undertaken and the impact this work has had. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
Young Volunteer Award (under 18)
The nominee must be under the age of eighteen during the time in which the nomination is discussing. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
Community Hero Award
The Community Hero Award is looking for a nominee who has demonstrated that they have gone above and beyond for their community as a whole, or for an individual neighbour. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
Culture and Heritage Award
The nominee needs to have had a demonstrable impact on local cultural and heritage organisation or the preservation of local heritage. Perhaps they have been involved with creating a cultural event for all to enjoy in their local area, or brought culture and heritage to residents who may otherwise struggle to access it. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
Sporting Volunteer Award
The nominee should be a resident or someone who has volunteered for Broxtowe sports clubs or organisations and had a demonstrable impact on the lives of others. Perhaps they have created a local football tournament or something similar. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
Green Futures Award
The nominee should have been involved with volunteering in a green way. Perhaps they’ve been involved in a project to plant trees or they’ve spent time volunteering in our parks and green areas. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
Benefitting Broxtowe Award (overall winner)
As our most prestigious award, the nominee needs to have made a demonstrable impact on a large area of Broxtowe or to have implemented something that has benefitted a substantial number of residents. All nominations are judged purely on the information provided in the nomination, so please ensure you have a minimum of 200 words about why the nominee is worthy of the award.
